Well, it's time (though, they still didn't announce me, doubt they will anytime soon
Official phone call somewhere around 11AM ( I was half dead at that time , the usual ) announcing me as the winner of the Mark Webber Helmet Promo.
This helmet design competition got me:
- Return flights for two* to the 2012 FORMULA 1 SINGTEL SINGAPORE GRAND PRIX to watch Mark on track wearing the race helmet featuring your design
- Meet & Greet with Mark
- Five-star deluxe accommodation at Swissotel The Stamford, Singapore
- Prime location weekend grandstand tickets
- the helmet that I designed is mine forever
There, thought everybody should know now, and I'm really glad that I won something this big and that it will do more good to my career. The best thing that ever happened to me, for sure!
- special announcement I did on FB, but there is more to this story.
Being an artist is hard, though I must say that that is a major boost to my career! I spent hours trying to shape the helmet design, make it go with the flow. In the end, I've got results and it's one big win which will obviously leave a mark. I'm not a frequent user of deviantart, I post things here and there and hopefully some of you will notice and comment, critique if needed...but it's maybe because of this that people don't know me much on here. I don't promote myself that much, and tbh I really can't...why? Well, I'm really busy and I'm quite a perfectionist...so forcing myself to leave something unfinished is very hard for me to do. That's what has been going on with the helmet competition, and it wasn't pretty at all. It took me at least 2 weeks to finish the design, but the bad part was...I didn't get enough sleep and not to mention that I clearly didn't socialize that much.
*Monday the 13th*
It was that phone call that changed my life. As I woke up I went straight away to my computer to check stuff out, when all of a sudden...my phone rang. My phone doesn't ring much, except when my friend calls me out for a drink. So I answer...and the first thing was "molim?" (Croatian for what? or can be understood as hello, wazzup, who's this...whatever)...the other person on the line though, felt a bit confused and stopped for a minute, then started talking...and it was in ENGLISH! Usually, I chicken out...but I handled it well. The guy was suprised though and asked me..." are you really 17???". Then came the good part! They told me that I was the actual winner of the competition and he went on talking about the trip etc. All in all, I was suprised, thrilled...and proud of myself.
